Job Summary: A Painter is responsible for applying paint, varnish, or other finishes to surfaces in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. The role ensures a smooth, even, and durable finish that meets project specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and applying primers or undercoats.
- Mix and apply paints, stains, varnishes, or other coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Follow color schemes, patterns, and specifications as per project requirements.
- Inspect finished surfaces for quality, smoothness, and consistency.
- Maintain painting tools, equipment, and work area cleanliness.
- Follow safety procedures when handling paints, chemicals, and equipment.
- Report any defects or inconsistencies to supervisors and take corrective actions.
- Keep records of materials used and work completed.
Qualifications / Skills
- Proven experience as a Painter in construction, industrial, or maintenance projects.
- Knowledge of various paints, coatings, and application methods.
- Ability to read and interpret project specifications or technical drawings.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to work on ladders, scaffolding, and varied surfaces.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Working Conditions
- Work may be indoors or outdoors depending on the project.
- Exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals; PPE required.
- Frequent standing, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolds.
- May require overtime, shift work, or weekend work depending on project schedules.
