Paralegal

We are seeking an experienced Paralegal with at least five (5) years of hands-on experience in a general law practice setting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities across diverse areas of law. This role requires a proactive professional who can work independently while supporting attorneys in all aspects of case preparation and management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, proofread, and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, contracts, discovery requests/responses, and correspondence.
  • Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorney review.
  • Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files in compliance with firm procedures.
  • Manage court filings, service of process, and docket/calendar deadlines.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including witness coordination, exhibit preparation, and trial binders.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare, review, and manage discovery materials, including document production and indexing.
  • Support attorneys in client meetings, hearings, mediations, and depositions as needed.
  • Monitor case progress and ensure deadlines are met in accordance with procedural rules.
  • Perform administrative duties related to case management as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a paralegal in a general law practice or multi-disciplinary legal environment.
  • Strong understanding of Illinois State and federal court procedures, rules, and filing requirements.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under deadlines.
  • Familiarity with legal document management and case management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Paralegal certificate from an accredited program preferred; equivalent work experience considered.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
