What Success Looks Like in This Role

A successful paralegal at RWI Law:

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of Family Law and/or Civil Litigation procedures.
  • Works closely with attorneys to draft, organize, and manage case files.
  • Contributes to efficient processes and proactive case management.
  • Maintains professional communication with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
  • Balances multiple cases and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit, and prepare legal documents (motions, affidavits, discovery, correspondence, pleadings, and trial exhibits).
  • Conduct legal research, summarize findings, and assist with case strategy preparation.
  • Manage and maintain case files (both physical and electronic) in compliance with confidentiality standards.
  • Coordinate deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial calendars.
  • Communicate with clients regarding case updates, document requests, and scheduling.
  • Assist attorneys during hearings and trials with preparation and organization.
  • Track billable time and assist with client billing when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Required: One year prior experience as a paralegal in Family Law and/or Civil Litigation.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field or equivalent work experience in law firm or legal field.
  • Strong drafting and legal writing skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with Minnesota state court rules and procedures.
  • Experience with Federal Court rules and procedures desired, but not required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with case management software, Microsoft Office, and electronic filing systems.
