What Success Looks Like in This Role
A successful paralegal at RWI Law:
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of Family Law and/or Civil Litigation procedures.
- Works closely with attorneys to draft, organize, and manage case files.
- Contributes to efficient processes and proactive case management.
- Maintains professional communication with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
- Balances multiple cases and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, edit, and prepare legal documents (motions, affidavits, discovery, correspondence, pleadings, and trial exhibits).
- Conduct legal research, summarize findings, and assist with case strategy preparation.
- Manage and maintain case files (both physical and electronic) in compliance with confidentiality standards.
- Coordinate deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial calendars.
- Communicate with clients regarding case updates, document requests, and scheduling.
- Assist attorneys during hearings and trials with preparation and organization.
- Track billable time and assist with client billing when necessary.
Qualifications
- Required: One year prior experience as a paralegal in Family Law and/or Civil Litigation.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field or equivalent work experience in law firm or legal field.
- Strong drafting and legal writing skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Familiarity with Minnesota state court rules and procedures.
- Experience with Federal Court rules and procedures desired, but not required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with case management software, Microsoft Office, and electronic filing systems.
