Family Law Paralegal — Boutique Law Firm, Hackensack, NJ

We are a small, boutique family law firm based in Hackensack, New Jersey, dedicated to providing compassionate, strategic, and high-quality representation to our clients. We handle all aspects of family law, including divorce, custody, support, and domestic violence matters, and we pride ourselves on maintaining a supportive, professional, and client-focused environment.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to assist two lawyers with managing multiple cases. You will work closely with the attorney to prepare case files, manage client communication, and assist in all stages of litigation and settlement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft pleadings, motions, certifications, Case Information Statements, discovery requests/responses, and correspondence.
  • Organize and maintain case files in both physical and electronic formats.
  • Schedule and track court appearances, mediations, and deadlines.
  • Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel in a professional manner.
  • Assist in trial preparation, including exhibits and witness lists.
  • Handle billing entries and document management in practice software.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in New Jersey family law required.
  • Strong working knowledge of NJ court rules, eCourts filing, and family law procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and law practice management software (e.g., practice panther, easy soft, jeds ).
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently in a fast-paced, small firm environment.
  • Professional demeanor, empathy, and discretion when handling sensitive client matters.
