Paralegal – Job Description

Position Title: Paralegal
Department: Legal
Reports To: Corporate Counsel / General Counsel

Position Summary

The Paralegal provides high-level legal support to the Corporate Counsel by conducting legal research, preparing and reviewing documents, maintaining case files, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements. This role assists with contract preparation, corporate recordkeeping, and communication between internal departments and outside legal partners. The Paralegal ensures accuracy, confidentiality, and efficiency in all legal matters.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Support & Documentation

  • Drafts, reviews, and edits legal documents including contracts, agreements, letters, and memoranda.
  • Prepares and organizes documentation for legal proceedings, internal reviews, and compliance audits.
  • Maintains accurate and updated legal files, records, case logs, and databases.
  • Prepares summaries of legal research, case law, statutes, regulations, and findings.

Contracts & Compliance

  • Assists in the preparation, tracking, and management of company contracts and amendments.
  • Coordinates the contract approval process and ensures all required signatures and approvals are completed.
  • Helps monitor organizational compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
  • Supports Corporate Counsel in developing and maintaining corporate governance documents.

Corporate & Administrative Support

  • Coordinates communication between departments regarding legal matters and document requests.
  • Schedules meetings, hearings, and appointments for the legal department.
  • Manages confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Provides administrative support such as preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence.

Research & Investigation

  • Conducts factual and legal research to support company initiatives and legal strategy.
  • Assists in gathering information for legal response, discovery, and internal investigations.
  • Reviews regulations and industry updates to identify potential compliance risks.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in Paralegal Studies required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Paralegal certification (ABA approved program) preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience working as a paralegal, preferably in corporate, compliance, or contract law.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize deadlines, and work independently.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal document software.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs (documents and files).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
