Paralegal – Medical Malpractice

Medical Malpractice Paralegal

Position Overview
The Paralegal will support a team of three attorneys within the medical malpractice/personal injury practice. This role requires strong litigation experience, the ability to manage 18–20 cases at a time, and a proactive, highly organized approach. Candidates must have hands-on experience with Virginia malpractice matters, as well as comfort working in a closely managed environment.
Key Responsibilities

Draft and review letters, pleadings, motions, court correspondence, discovery requests/responses, expert designations, and case filings.

Obtain, organize, and maintain medical records and related documentation throughout all stages of litigation, including trial preparation.

Schedule depositions, meetings, hearings, and court appearances.

Maintain consistent communication with clients and witnesses to gather information and provide case updates.

Collect, review, and update medical records and expenses on an ongoing basis.

Conduct legal and background research as needed.

Coordinate identification, verification, and resolution of medical liens.

Track and maintain logs for case expenses, medical costs, discovery deadlines, motion response due dates, statutes of limitations, expert designations, hearing dates, and trial dates.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate, or equivalent experience.

5 years of medical malpractice litigation experience (Virginia malpractice experience required).

Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable communicating with clients, experts, and opposing counsel.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and litigation technology tools.

Strong legal research abilities; experience with platforms such as LexisNexis preferred.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and a client-focused mindset.

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage a high-volume caseload.

Aptitude for learning medical and dental concepts relevant to case matters.
