Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our legal team. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support various practice areas such as estate planning, tribal law, patent law, and workers' compensation law.
- Assist in drafting legal documents including contracts, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence with precision and clarity.
- Manage case files using document management systems like iManage and PCLaw; ensure all documents are organized, accurate, and easily accessible.
- Review and analyze legal documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Support attorneys with client interviews by preparing questionnaires and summarizing interview notes to facilitate case development.
- Perform data entry tasks related to case management systems while maintaining meticulous records of all case activities.
- Proofread and transcribe legal documents to ensure error-free submissions; handle filing procedures both electronically and physically.
- Provide administrative support including scheduling meetings, managing phone etiquette, organizing files, and coordinating communication within the law office.
- Conduct research on specific laws such as UCC law (Uniform Commercial Code), landlord-tenant regulations, family law statutes, securities regulations, tribal laws & regulations, patent law procedures, and immigration policies.
- Assist in document review processes for litigation cases across various practice areas including personal injury law and workers' compensation claims.
- Support project management initiatives by tracking deadlines and maintaining organized workflows for multiple cases simultaneously.
Experience
- Proven paralegal experience in a fast-paced law office environment with exposure to diverse practice areas such as estate planning, environmental law, family law, securities law, immigration law, or litigation.
- Strong knowledge of legal administrative processes including document review, case management software (iManage), legal research platforms (Westlaw & LexisNexis), and document drafting tools.
- Familiarity with legal procedures related to UCC law, tribal regulations, patent processes or landlord-tenant issues is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting interviews with clients or witnesses to gather pertinent information for cases.
- Proficiency in writing clear reports or summaries that support attorneys’ case strategies; strong proofreading skills are essential.
- Ability to handle clerical tasks such as data entry, filing systems (physical or electronic), transcription work, and maintaining meticulous records with professionalism.
- Effective communication skills coupled with courteous phone etiquette to liaise confidently with clients and team members alike.
- Knowledge of relevant software applications including PCLaw for billing purposes; familiarity with legal research tools like Westlaw is preferred.
