Job Overview
Busy Lynchburg family law firm is seeking an experienced Paralegal with 3+ years of experience in family law. Person would be responsible for circuit court cases from assisting with drafting the complaint through trial, as well as cases in the juvenile and domestic relations district courts. She/he would need to be familiar with scheduling orders, interrogatories and all other discovery, depositions, motions, supplementing discovery, and all other aspects of litigation. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Must be motivated, work independently, have strong communication skills and needs to possess excellent organizational skills. Ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, able to work under pressure/high stress, and organized, possessing excellent oral and written communication skills. This is a full-time position with an excellent benefits package. Salary commensurate with experience. All applications will be kept confidential.

Duties

  • Conduct legal research using tools such as Lexis-Nexis to gather relevant case law and statutes.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery materials.
  • Manage and organize case files, ensuring all documents are properly filed and accessible.
  • Transcribe legal documents and correspondence with precision.
  • Proofread documents for accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
  • Support attorneys during litigation processes by preparing trial exhibits and managing evidence.
  • Assist with family law cases by gathering necessary documentation and liaising with clients.
  • Provide clerical support as needed, including scheduling appointments and managing attorney calendars.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of litigation processes and procedures.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Lexis-Nexis.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Familiarity with family law.
  • Exceptional proofreading skills to ensure accuracy in all documentation.
  • Ability to transcribe information accurately from various sources.
  • Experience in legal administrative tasks, including case management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail coupled with effective communication skills.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
