The Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Arlington County and the City of Falls Church is seeking a Paralegal I to provide court administration and documentation assistance to professional legal staff for cases before the General District and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts of Arlington County and the City of Falls Church.
Specific duties include:
Preparing case files for hearings, update case files in a timely manner, and maintain orderly paper and electronic filing systems;
Managing all aspects of discovery: track deadliness and pending and received discovery orders; review evidence and redact as required; and prepare and send discovery to defense counsel;
Communicating with assigned attorneys, defense counsel, law enforcement agencies, court clerks and other team members to ensure high quality legal support;
Aiding the intake team, including assisting in the preparation and maintenance of sentencing and daily dockets;
Preparing legal documents;
Running and reviewing investigative reports, criminal reports, police reports, and other pertinent information;
Reviewing body worn camera videos and 911 call recordings; and
Importing evidence into case management system .
Good interpersonal skills and experience managing professional relationships;
Excellent time management and organizational skills;
Problem solving skills to gather relevant information and solve vaguely defined practical problems;
Minimum Qualifications:
Professional License/Certifications – Completion of a paralegal program recognized by the American Bar Association.
Substitution: Additional qualifying experience in a legal office performing paralegal responsibilities may be substituted for the paralegal certificate program requirements.

Background Check: A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. It may include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.
Additional Information
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, flexible schedule with limited telework opportunities and flexibility for occasional evening and weekend hours, as needed.
