Paralegal-ICAN Unit

Legal Services of Long Island has an immediate opening in our Islandia office for a full-time time paralegal in the Independent Consumer Network (ICAN) unit, primarily to assist persons with Managed Long-Term Care (MLTC), Medicaid Managed Care, Medicaid Advantage Plus and behavioral health plans to secure homecare in the community. The paralegal will also assist with navigation of the enrollment process and dispense advice and counsel.

DUTIES: The position includes providing advice and counsel under attorney supervision, assisting clients to navigate the health care system, including but not limited to, the enrollment and external appeal process, and participation in community education. The paralegal would be responsible for meeting with walk-in clients. Occasional home and hospital visits are also expected. The paralegal would serve Suffolk county.

REQUIREMENTS: Paralegal training or college degree or appropriate prior experience; Excellent oral communication and writing skills; Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook; Strong attention to detail and organizational ability to prioritize and multi-task; Demonstrated commitment to the goals and clients of the legal services program; Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred

Pay: $42,308.00 - $52,308.00 per year
