Position Summary:
The Legal Department Paralegal will be responsible for work assignments and projects at the direction of General Counsel. Duties include, but not limited to: gathering, preparing and summarizing relevant materials, participate on strategic and tactical corporate legal initiatives, maintain new and existing files, indexes and tracks documents received and sent at direction of General Counsel. In addition, the Paralegal will be responsible for reviewing agreements, facilitate business transactions, and assist with managing and ensuring compliance of the System in general, assisting with litigation and discovery matters as requested. Assist with contacting and preparing witnesses for testimony, production of medical records and other matters as requested. Also performs work and other duties as required by General Counsel.
Education, License & Cert:
Associates Degree in paralegal studies or Paralegal certificate required but strong job experience can be relevant. Bachelor’s Degree with certificate in paralegal studies preferred but strong job experience or other relevant work experience will be considered.
Experience:
Prefer experience in healthcare field or related law firm experience, but not required. Desire to work in fast paced, complex environment with strong attention to detail and ability to multi task a must. Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail is a must. Ability to work in a confidential environment and respond as necessary.
Essential Functions:
1. Assist attorney(s) in support of litigation, discovery, hearings and trials.
2. Participate and assist with investigations, fact‐finding, and collaborate with counsel in support of litigation system wide.
3. Identify relevant legal articles, laws and judicial decisions for department.
4. Assists in preparing legal documents.
5. Assist and maintain legal records.
6. Provide organization and support for General Counsel as directed.
7. Participate in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures and programs and provide continuing counsel and guidance on legal matters.
8. Assist attorney(s) with transaction closings and maintenance of corporate records.
9. Conduct legal research and drafting as requested. 10. Successfully complete special projects and other assignments as requested by General Counsel.
