PARALEGAL- TRIAL DIVISION

DEPARTMENT: Prosecuting Attorney

HIRING RANGE: $23.71-$26.35/hour based on education and position related experience. Longevity pay after 3 years.

POSITION TO BE FILLED: ASAP

HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: 40 hours/week; Monday thru Friday 8am-5pm

LOCATION OF POSITION: Elkhart

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: None

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing various pretrial and trial preparation duties, preparing case pleadings and other correspondence and providing assistance to Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· High school diploma or GED and 18 months related training and/or education beyond high school; Paralegal certificate preferred

· Knowledge of Elkhart County courts system and operations, including laws and legal terminology, administrative regulations, and official court policies and practices; ability to apply appropriate procedures to assigned duties accordingly

· Knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and ability to type with speed and accuracy

· Ability to prepare pleadings, petitions, related correspondence, and reports

· Pre-employment background check and drug screen
