Job Summary

Support the Geology Department faculty, staff, and students as a post-secondary teaching assistant and aid, while fulfilling the CC Mission:

Responsibilities
  • Assist in Introductory Geology and some advanced laboratories; set-up classes and labs.
  • Coordinate field-trip logistics; assist with field-trip instruction; driving vans; ordering supplies and some photocopying.
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring of students and a resource for questions; grading tests, laboratory, and homework papers.
  • Perform various ongoing departmental projects such as organizing and maintaining rock, mineral, map, and fossil collections; preparing thin and polished sections and specimens; general departmental maintenance and handy work.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Geology or a closely related field
  • Ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College's motor vehicle insurance carrier.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with the Block Plan and familiarity with local geology.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range:
  • $20.03 per hour
