Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Parent Peer Support Case Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing assistance and guidance to individuals in need. This is a KPERS covered position.
Responsibilities:
- Assist families in understanding effective parenting skills in relation to child's mental illness and treatment, developing a safe and supportive environment in the home, understanding problem solving skills, coping mechanisms and strategies for behavior management.
- Assist treatment team in facilitating team meetings as needed
- Provide support to parents with emotionally disturbed children when the need exists individually or in group setting
- Assist families during crisis situations alongside Tx team members and within scope of practice
- Assist families in identifying, understanding and accessing services and resources
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date paperwork and documentation
- Assist families with understanding services, availability, choices and description of services that impact the child with a mental illness while living in the community.
- Monitor client's progress towards treatment plan goals through the facilitation of psychosocial groups, collateral contacts with schools, parents, designated team members and through wraparound meetings
- Attend professional development opportunities and complete required trainings to advance skills
- Attend required meetings
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Clean KBI, DCF Adult & Child Abuse Checks
- Valid KS Driver's License with favorable driving record
- Lived experience as a parent/caregiver of a child with SED, SUD or co-occurring mental health diagnosis
- Bachelor's Degree or 4 years of equivalent education and/or experience working in the human services field with most experience being with children
