Responsibilities
- Serve as first point of contact: greet visitors, answer phones, and manage mail
- Maintain office organization, supplies, and digital/physical records
- Order and maintain office and church supplies as needed
- Support Rector by managing calendar and assisting with correspondence
- Produce weekly and quarterly newsletters; send announcements via email platforms
- Update and manage church website and social media platforms
- Design and print bulletins, reports, and other church publications
- Coordinate external printing and manage communications such as signs, ads, and pledge mailings
- Coordinate and schedule live streaming of worship services
- Schedule and communicate with volunteers for worship roles and altar flowers
- Maintain member records, Parish Register, and support annual Parochial Report preparation
- Maintain and manage member database, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of records
- Assist with on-boarding new members, including name tags and transfer letters
- Administer Safe Church training records and ensure compliance
- Managing weekly deposit and expense records
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and collaborate with clergy and committees
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite or Google Workspace
- Comfortable working in a faith-based setting
- Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain attention to detail
- Welcoming presence with commitment to hospitality, integrity, and confidentiality
- Experience in office management, bookkeeping, and/or nonprofit administration
- Experience with Constant Contact; ability to learn church-specific tools (ACS)
- Familiarity with church life; knowledge of the Episcopal or other liturgical traditions preferred
- Experience managing websites, social media, or digital communications platforms preferred
Schedule:
- Tuesday - Thursday in the office
- Monday and Friday, location flexible
- Office closed for national holidays, the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, and the week following

Established in 2015, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina and is situated in historic downtown Port Royal. St. Mark’s is a vital, welcoming, Christ-centered community of faith that is both inclusive and cohesive. We are engaged in ministry guided by the mission of The Episcopal Church and its commitment to love and service throughout the world.
Today our members number over 300, with an average of over 150 in weekly attendance at Sunday services and another 30+ tuning in for the live stream. Our parish values hospitality, collaboration, and faithful stewardship in all aspects of church life.
