Part-Time Administrative Assistant to the Owner (1099 Contractor)

Granfield Consultants is a small business consulting firm based in Lowell, MA, providing administrative and bookkeeping support to small businesses. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to directly support the Owner of the company as an independent contractor (1099).
This role is ideal for a proactive professional who is comfortable managing executive-level inboxes, communicating on behalf of leadership, and handling multiple priorities with discretion and accuracy.
Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities:
· Manage and respond to the Owner's email inbox on a daily basis, including drafting and sending responses on the Owner's behalf
· Prioritize, organize, and flag time-sensitive emails and requests
· Categorize clients' bank transactions in QuickBooks Online
· Complete clients' monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
· Support multiple client accounts and efficiently switch between systems
· Organize and manage documents across multiple cloud platforms (Dropbox, Box, iCloud, Google Drive, etc.)
· Work closely with the Owner and Office Manager on a daily basis
· Provide general administrative and operational support as needed
Contractor Requirements:
· Demonstrated experience with QuickBooks Online
· Experience completing bank and credit card reconciliations
· Must be highly detail-oriented
· Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and OneNote
· Technologically proficient, including e-mail, smartphone use, and texting
· Strong multitasking and organizational skills
· Ability to act as a trusted representative of the Owner in written communication
· Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work as a team member while managing independent responsibilities
· Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt
· Must have your own reliable, working laptop
· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all client and company information
· Willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement due to access to sensitive financial and personal client data
Engagement Details:
· Independent contractor (1099) position
· Part-time with flexible hours
· Primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings as needed
· Potential opportunity to transition to a W-2 employee role in the future, based on business needs and performance
