Title: Part Time Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic
Reports to: Station Manager
Based at: PSP – Palm Springs Airport
Position Summary:
Repair and maintain components used for aircraft airframes and powerplant. Inspect aircraft engines, landing gear, instruments, pressurized sections, accessories-brakes, valves, pumps, and air-conditioning systems. Maintain records related to maintenance performed on the aircraft. Mechanics may also repair sheet metal or composite surfaces. Mechanics rely on the pilots’ description of a problem to find and fix faulty equipment.
Document and maintain accurate records of all maintenance actions performed in accordance with regulatory and program requirements. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues by leveraging pilot reported discrepancies, technical documentation, and hands on inspection.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
· Knowledge of computers
· General knowledge of federal regulations
· Ability to read and understand engineering blueprints/drawings
· Ability to read and understand aircraft wiring diagrams
· Ability to legally operate a motorized vehicle
· Perform routine inspections and troubleshooting, including airframe structures, engines, aircraft system
· Perform all airframe, power plant repairs and modifications required to meet company and FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) requirements
· Removal and disassembly of defective parts; assembly and installation of replacement parts; and testing aircraft systems
· Operate all power tools and equipment necessary to accomplish job assignments
· Complete all required maintenance records
· Accurately record time worked on work order
· Interpret technical manuals, drawings, and blueprints
· Tow and park aircraft
· Perform other tasks and duties as may be required
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications, skills, and abilities:
· High School Diploma or Equivalent required
· Possess a Valid FAA-issued A&P License required
· 1 year of previous line maintenance experience required
· Experience and/or training on at least 2 aircraft types – A319/A320/A321, A220, B737, and/or E175/190 aircraft desired
· Knowledge and Understanding of the English Language required
· Strong verbal and written communication skills desired
· Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical, as well as obtain and maintain an airport line badge
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess the ability to:
· Stand
· Lie down
· Kneel
· Climb stairs, scaffolds, or ladders
· Frequently lift, pull, and hold objects weighing more than 70 pounds
· Noise and vibration are common when engines are on, so ear protection is necessary
* Working conditions: A&P Mechanics usually work outdoors, sometimes in unpleasant weather. Noise and vibration are common when engines are on, so ear protection is necessary Mechanics often work under time pressure to maintain flight schedules to keep from inconveniencing customers. At the same time, mechanics have a tremendous responsibility to maintain safety standards.
Job Type: Part-time
Schedule:
· Part Time - Flexible Hours / Flexible Days
· Overtime required as needed
· Weekend availability required
· Flexible Hours to include on-call status after normal hours
Experience:
· Aircraft maintenance: 2 years minimum (Required)
License/Certification:
· FAA-issued Airframe & Powerplant License (Required)
