Part-Time CPA / EA (Tax Prep + Light Review)

The Role:

We are looking for a CPA or EA with experience in tax preparation and some review work to join our team. This is a part-time, flexible role with the opportunity for increased hours during tax season.

This role is best suited for someone who is confident preparing returns independently and is comfortable performing light review of returns and financials.

What you will be doing:

• Prepare individual, partnership, S corporation, and non-profit tax returns (1040, 1065, 1120S, 990)
• Perform light review of tax returns for accuracy and completeness
• Review bookkeeping and general ledger activity
• Review payroll reports and basic filings
• Review sales tax reports and returns
• Identify errors, inconsistencies, and potential tax savings
• Assist with client questions as needed

• Flexible, part-time hours during the off-season
• Increased hours available during tax season (Jan–Apr)

• Must be U.S.-based (Central Time preferred)

Basic Qualifications & Skills

• CPA or EA designation required
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 3–6+ years of public accounting experience
• Strong tax preparation experience (1040, 1065, 1120S)
• Some experience reviewing returns or financials
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Detail-oriented and organized
• Unrestricted work authorization in the United States (sponsorship not provided)
• Familiarity with Google Docs, Sheets, etc.
• Quickbooks Online Experience
• Tax Software Experience (Proconnect is the software we use)

Desired Qualifications & Traits

• MBA or Masters in Accounting or Taxation
• Exposure to non-profit work is a plus
• GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 preferred
• Go-getter attitude, ready to jump in and figure things out
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical background
• Attention to detail- able to complete tasks with high level of accuracy
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other team members
• Understands the big picture of closing books and applying it to clients tax returns and tax planning
