Family Assistant (Part-Time) – Livingston, NJ

We are seeking a warm, proactive, and highly organized Family Assistant to support a busy single-mom household in Livingston, NJ. This is a long-term position working alongside an existing part-time babysitter, with a focus on keeping the home running smoothly and providing after-school support for two school-aged children.

The role begins earlier in the afternoon (2:30–4:00 PM), allowing time to independently manage household responsibilities such as meal preparation, laundry, and organization before the children return home. The current babysitter handles school pickup and overlaps later in the shift, creating a collaborative and well-supported environment.

The schedule is Monday through Friday from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM, with 20 guaranteed hours per week. The position offers a competitive rate of $35/hour, along with industry-standard benefits including guaranteed hours, paid federal holidays, paid vacation, and personal/sick days. The ideal start date is as soon as the right fit is found.

Responsibilities include preparing healthy, family-style meals and assisting with weekly meal prep, managing light household administrative tasks such as scheduling and errands, and supporting after-school routines including homework guidance and structure. The Family Assistant will also help maintain a calm and organized evening flow, support household upkeep such as family laundry and tidying shared spaces, and occasionally assist with driving for school pickup or activities. A key part of the role includes providing gentle but firm guidance, particularly for the 11-year-old, with an understanding of routines, accountability, and ADHD support.

The ideal candidate is legally authorized to work in the U.S., has a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and is CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain). Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in a similar family assistant role, with strong experience supporting school-aged children. Familiarity with ADHD is a strong plus.
