About This Position
Phoenix Public Library serves a diverse clientele of over 4.8 million people, with a central library and 16 branches. The library offers collections in multiple languages, a full range of cutting-edge electronic resources, and customer-focused public services.
Library Assistants provide highly skilled reference service either directly for library users or in service support areas in the Central Library or a branch. Work requires the application of basic professional knowledge and techniques of library science to a variety of assignments, including descriptive cataloging, acquisition of library materials, response to information requests from library users, and teaching or presenting specialized classes or programs. Employees work independently under the general supervision of a Librarian or Branch Manager.
The Library Department is currently hiring for part-time positions at the Desert Sage and Desert Broom locations.

Ability to communicate well and work effectively in a team environment, while providing excellent customer service.

Demonstrated ability to be flexible and have a positive attitude.
SALARY
Pay: $20.51 per hour.
Benefits
Part-time employees are eligible for earned paid sick time, city training, and free or discounted bus and light rail fares.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a program that imparts a broad liberal education.

Work And Environmental Conditions Requirements
Some positions require working evening and weekend shifts, which include Saturdays and/or Sundays.
Preferred Qualifications
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
Bilingual - Fluent in Spanish.
Experience With

Teaching or presenting programs to the public for adults, teens, and/or children.

Working in a paid library position.

Providing excellent customer service.
