Job Title: Seasonal Library Associate
Position Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Branch: Erlanger, 401 Kenton Lans, Erlanger KY 41018
Pay Range: $13.40 - $18.91 per hour
Work Schedule: Part-time (20 hours/week), with a schedule that may include any day of the week, including days, evenings, weekends, and the holidays the Library is open.
This is a seasonal position that will begin in May and conclude in early August.

What You’ll Do

Provide friendly, welcoming service to the public by greeting visitors, answering questions, and assisting patrons with books and library resources.

Help ensure patrons feel comfortable and supported while using the Library.

Assist patrons with basic circulation, reference, and readers advisory at multiple service points, including the Circulation Desk, the drive-thru window, and over the phone.

Process library card applications and introduce new cardholders to basic library benefits, services, and resources.

Collect and input fine amounts in the cash register.

Support patrons in using library technology, including online tools.

Perform circulation and shelving tasks.

Promote the Library’s mission to connect people with information, ideas, and one another.

Collaborate with a supportive team across departments and branches to deliver outstanding customer service and genuine care.

Perform other job-related tasks as needed to support department operations.

Qualifications Required

High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Proficient technology skills including MS Office, Internet, and experience with electronic databases and resources, and eBooks; knowledge of current popular portable electronic devices and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.

Prior work experience in a public-facing or customer service orientated job role.
- Prior experience with operating a cash register and cash handling.

Understanding and support of the Library’s mission, vision, culture and structure, and a comprehensive understanding of the Library’s policies and procedures.

Ability to bend, kneel, and reach to retrieve library materials.

Ability to carry items weighing 20-30 pounds.

Ability to push book trucks or bins weighing 100 pounds.
