Part-Time Mobile Clinic Nurse

The Barren River District Health Department is in search of a a part-time Public Health Nurse I, Grade 17 to work as a Mobile Clinic RN. This position would be based at the District office but will serve all 8 counties for the purpose of providing nursing services on the Mobile Clinic and/or within the main clinic setting as needed. Training will also occur within the main clinic setting as well as on the Mobile Clinic.

Key responsibilities include: Conducting nursing assessments and assisting with community assessments and epidemiological investigations, as appropriate, using CSG service guidelines; developing and implementing a plan of care based upon identified health risks; providing basic nursing care to the client consistent with the Clinical Service Guide, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, established policies, procedures and licensing laws; documents services provided to the client according to standards of the CSG and Administrative Reference (AR); maintains confidentiality and privacy according to guidelines; develops and conducts educational counseling and teaching activities for individual clients and families, and communities. Provides or assists in providing a variety of nursing services to particular at-risk or high-risk populations or populations with limited access to care. Clinic services could potentially be performed on the mobile clinic per protocol or provided within the main clinic settings per service and program requirements set forth by KY Department for Public Health, Clinical Service Guide, Administrative Reference, and Local Health Department policy. Other responsibilities will include maintaining quality assurance measures on the mobile clinic, supply inventory and ordering, and conducting disinfecting and cleaning measures after any mobile clinic use. Another main responsibility of this position will include attending outreach events and promoting all health department services at these events. This position provides entry-level nursing functions and services to individuals and families under close supervision in the clinic and/or the community setting as needed focusing on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health populations.

The nurse in this classification would receive job specific training in the requirements and scope of practice of the various assigned health department programs and services. This nurse will also provide case management for these services as assigned. As training progresses successfully, this position will be required to work independently and autonomously while on the mobile clinic following all policies and procedures and standing orders. Other duties also as assigned, and travel to other counties will be necessary after training is complete depending on the needs of the Mobile Clinic. The range of pay is $24.68 - $30.69. The minimum requirement is to have an RN license in Kentucky or compact state .
