Job Title: Part-Time On-Site Nurse

Reports To: Operations Director and Head of School

Employee Classification: Independent Contractor

Hours: 8:30am - 12:30pm, Monday/Wednesday/Friday

Salary: $30-$50 per hour

Job Summary

MAC is looking for a part-time, on-site nurse to provide assistance and guidance for students and parents throughout the school day.

Job Responsibilities

Monitor illnesses of MAC community by responding to emails and phone calls regarding illnesses/exposures/medical conditions from staff and parents. This includes guidance for protocol in returning to school, necessary steps to follow regarding the illness presented and communication to MAC staff and parents (if applicable).

• Check in each morning with the classroom for attendance or information that needs to be communicated. This communication could entail symptoms of incoming students/information or concerns shared from drop off with parents, and tracking of symptoms.
• Provide first aid (available for staff/students for onsite illness/injuries).
• Provide education/guidance to staff or parents when requested (i.e., nutrition, sleep concerns, developmental guidelines).
• Communicate active illnesses that affect classrooms or the community with families and staff.
• Track and provide documentation required by the Denver Health Department of student illnesses at MAC.
• Provide medication administration and emergency medication training to staff.
• Provide special training for staff for (i.e., epilepsy, diabetes, or any other chronic illness).
• Administer medication to students.
• Monitor and update care plans and medications.
• Develop safety protocols and medical emergency plans for the classrooms.
• Manage student immunization/health care appraisal records.
• Adhere to PDIS school nurse standards and ensure compliance with CO childcare/school licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Pediatric experience (1 year inpatient or school based preferred)
• Strong understanding of common pediatric illnesses (asthma, allergies, hand foot and mouth, bronchiolitis, RSV, conjunctivitis, strep throat, viral illness, etc)
• Current BLS or PALS certification
• Current CCHC certification
• Criminal background check required upon hire
