Part-time Podiatric Medical Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Part-time Podiatric Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. Must be available to work Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week (may occasionally be needed on Tuesday and/or Friday). This vital role supports podiatrists in delivering exceptional foot and ankle care across outpatient clinics and hospital settings. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to patient well-being through efficient clinical support and administrative assistance. Duties

  • Assist podiatrists with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information
  • Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to ensure accurate patient assessments
  • Prepare examination rooms and sterilize instruments for podiatric procedures
  • Support diagnostic procedures including X-ray imaging, basic wound care, and minor surgical assistance
  • Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems by documenting patient encounters, updating charts, and coding diagnoses using ICD (International Classification of Diseases) codes
  • Provide patient education on foot health, medication instructions, and post-treatment care plans
  • Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and maintaining clinic supplies

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification is required
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and ICD coding enhances efficiency in documentation processes
  • Experience with inpatient settings or Level I/II trauma centers is a plus
  • Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically
  • Ability to perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with medication administration, and supporting X-ray procedures
  • Previous clinic or hospital experience involving geriatrics, medical-surgical care, internal medicine, or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) is advantageous
