The Relationship Banker is responsible for accurately receiving and disbursing funds while maintaining precise records of cash and negotiable instruments associated with Greenville Federal’s daily transactions. This role also includes opening and servicing deposit accounts and delivering exceptional customer service to meet client needs both in person and over the phone.
The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with strong communication and interpersonal skills who enjoys building relationships with customers. This individual must demonstrate the ability to identify opportunities to cross-sell products and services, consistently achieve sales goals, and maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Some Saturday hours are required.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Account Management
- Provide exceptional customer service in person and over the phone; serve as a positive role model for team members.
- Interview new customers and open new deposit accounts and related products.
- Explain available Greenville Federal products and services clearly and accurately.
- Gather and verify customer information to process new and existing accounts.
- Maintain knowledge of IRA and HSA products and assist customers with related inquiries and account openings.
- Answer customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges, and account histories in compliance with disclosure requirements, regulations, and privacy policies.
- Handle customer concerns, complaints, and special requests professionally.
- Retain and grow existing customer relationships.
Teller & Transaction Processing
- Receive checking and savings deposits; verify cash amounts and proper endorsements; issue receipts.
- Examine deposited checks and determine funds availability based on regulatory requirements; complete hold notices when necessary.
- Process savings withdrawals and other account transactions.
- Cash checks by verifying endorsements, confirming identification, and ensuring validity.
- Receive proper identification for cash back transactions.
- Maintain accurate records of money and negotiable instruments.
- Serve as back-up teller as needed, processing deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments efficiently.
Sales & Business Development
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell products and services to generate new business.
- Recognize and refer customers with consumer, mortgage, or commercial loan needs.
- Meet individual sales goals and contribute to overall banking center cross-sales goals.
- Participate in outside calling efforts to promote deposit and loan growth.
- Support credit card product inquiries and assist customers with application processes.
Operations & Compliance
- Maintain knowledge of ATM, Cash Dispenser, and Cash Recycler operations, including routine maintenance when necessary.
- Complete ABA Learning Center courses as assigned by management.
- Understand and comply with CTR filing requirements, including when and how to complete filings.
- Follow Greenville Federal’s Security Policy and Procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of all retail and business products, including onboarding and offboarding processes.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Banking experience helpful
- Cash handling experiences preferred
