JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State is seeking a part-time – undergraduate
research assistant for the Department of Sociology and Criminology, working within the Criminal Justice Research Center (CJRC).
This position involves cleaning and coding qualitative interview data as part of an ongoing project focused on individuals reentering the community after incarceration, as well as reviewing documents in Excel using established coding schemes. The role will be supervised by a CJRC post-doctoral researcher. Work will primarily be conducted online, zoom and with periodic in-person meetings.
Job Duties
Complete all required Penn State IRB Human Subjects Training
Perform qualitative data cleaning and coding
Become familiar with qualitative coding software (e.g., Atlas.ti)
Attend periodic meetings (online or in-person) to review progress
Requirements and Qualifications
Must be a full-time Penn State undergraduate student
Available to work at least 8 hours per week
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Strong attention to detail
Ability to follow instructions accurately
Strong organizational and communication skills
