Part - Time SALES SPECIALIST

Delivers member value thru telephone communication and serves as a primary contact point for members’ new account requests. Demonstrates a highly motivated, positive, out-going, influential personality with a strong emphasis on sales and results orientation to ensure the credit union maximizes lending and new account and sales opportunities with members who apply for over the phone. Consistently demonstrates the ability to think independently, outside the box, by effectively responding to each individual member’s unique situation. Commands a thorough knowledge of the lending, new account and overall service process to ensure maximum sales results. Demonstrates an unsurpassed commitment to exceptional member service and teamwork with each encounter. Is fully knowledgeable of all credit union products and services and is able to confidently offer appropriate solutions to fit member needs with adherence to operations policies and procedures. Is able to clearly and effectively communicate with members and all levels of staff in verbal and written form and is proficient with applicable technology.

Essential Duties:

  • Professionally answer all incoming requests and applications for loans and new accounts whether received via telephone or thru the on-line channel. Communicate underwriting philosophies, lending decisions, approval stipulations, loan, deposit and associated products and services, credit bureau reports, credit protection products, loan and deposit rates, lending and new account polices.
  • Identify opportunities for the expansion of the product and service relationship with all members and offer additional appropriate products. This includes additional account relationships as well as other products and services offered by the credit union.
  • Identify opportunities for the expansion of the product and service relationship with all members and refer the member to the appropriate staff who are able to provide that product or service such as mortgages and wealth management/investment and insurance services.
  • Uses strong interpersonal skills and influence to consistently achieve sales goals. Displays confidence in presenting appropriate solutions to fit members’ needs. Maximizes opportunities to sell credit union products and services to benefit member and enhance quality and depth of member relationship and profitability

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum two years of work-related experience
  • Lending and/or banking experience
  • Maintains a high level of product and service knowledge including all benefits and features as well as all operations and systems related to offering such products and services. Fully engaged and strong awareness of any product promotions, special offers or other communications that may go to membership.
  • Demonstrates the ability to excel in a high stress environment and is able to meet goals and deadlines. Demonstrates professional persistence and overcomes obstacles to maintain above average closing ratios.
  • Hold a valid Michigan Credit Insurance License or obtain such designation to receive incentive on product sales.
  • Obtain a NMLS license within 90 days of hire date.
  • Able to work extended hours and be available as required or necessary to fulfill duties.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours.
