About MCC

Metropolitan Community College is the oldest public institution of higher learning in Kansas City, Missouri, founded in 1915 as the Kansas City Polytechnic Institute. The Junior College of Kansas City, as it was known starting in 1919, was one of the first schools in the country to award an associate degree. Today, MCC offers 125 associate degree and certificate programs.

Job Summary

This position is a PRN Simulation Specialist (Operator). You will expect to submit schedules and operate simulations throughout the academic year.

Two-day training course will orient Sim Specialist on our center’s operations and the requisite skills for the position.

Essential Functions

  • Operating CAE and Gaumard simulators including assisting with troubleshooting issues
  • Submit schedules and operate simulations throughout the academic year
  • Simulation setup/disassemble
  • Clean and organize room supplies
  • Assists with end of semester cleaning and simulator maintenance
  • Keeps medication carts stocked and replaces medication labels
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensed RN or Paramedic
  • One (1) year experience or experience working in simulation lab as a student.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledgeable in operating CAE and Gaumard simulators including assisting with troubleshooting issues
  • Skilled in technical areas of healthcare
  • Skilled with the use of computers

Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically requires feeling, grasping, hearing, keyboarding, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
