JOB TITLE: Part-Time Summer Worker

FLSA: Non-Exempt

HOURLY RATE: $15.00 - Worker

$18.00 - Lead Worker

REPORTS TO: Work Site Manager

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Salary and hours as communicated in the provisions of the proposed Part-Time Appointment agreement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Perform general labor tasks including lawn maintenance, moving furniture and equipment, and bus washing.

  • Transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites as needed.

  • Assist maintenance staff with facility-related tasks as assigned.

  • Ensure company equipment is operated safely and maintained properly.

  • Report malfunctioning or unsafe equipment to the supervisor.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work vehicles, equipment, and work areas.

  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


POSITION CATEGORIES

Lawn and Grounds Maintenance

  • Operate riding lawn mowers, push mowers, and other lawn maintenance equipment.

  • Use trimming equipment such as weed eaters, air blowers, hedge trimmers, and pruners.

  • Utilize hand tools including shovels, rakes, pruning shears, and loppers.

  • Trim trees, shrubs, and hedges as needed.

  • Assist with general landscaping and grounds upkeep.

  • Load and unload equipment and climb in and out of truck beds as needed.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of trucks and trailers.


Bus Washing

  • Operate equipment necessary to wash and clean school buses.

  • Assist with detailing and maintaining the cleanliness of the district bus fleet.


Moving and Setup

  • Lift, carry, and load furniture, equipment, and supplies.

  • Move items within and between buildings, including up and down stairs when necessary.

  • Protect furniture and equipment from damage during transport and setup.

Technology

  • Lift, carry, and load technology, equipment, and supplies.

  • Move and set up items within and between buildings, including up and down stairs when necessary.

  • Protect equipment from damage during transport and setup.

  • Assist with device maintenance

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crawl for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to maneuver on foot in varying outdoor conditions including muddy, rocky, wet, or sloped terrain.

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

  • Ability to carry buckets, bags, furniture, and equipment weighing 10–50 pounds throughout the workday.

  • Specific vision abilities required include distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions including rain, sun, heat, cold, mud, and dust.

  • Ability to work in a loud environment.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
