Part-Time Tutor

Part-time Teacher
Sylvan Learning Center is looking for part-time teachers for our center located in Irvine, CA.

• These are part-time positions (about 2-10 hrs./week depending on your availability and preferences)
• More hours available in the late spring and over the summer. Our summer teaching hours start at 9:00 am.
• Perfect for credentialed teachers or substitute teachers who are interested in tutoring after school hours!
• While online teaching is available, we are prioritizing candidates who can teach in person
• Must complete training (4 hours online; 12 hours teaching--observe teachers for 6 hours, and teach with one of our certified teachers observing/coaching you for 6 hours). Training is paid at a flat rate of $16.90/hour regardless of pay negotiated post-training.

Duties:

Teach in a small group or one-on-one setting in a variety of subjects such as Reading, Writing, Math, Homework Support, ACT and SAT. Let us know your specialties! Our Sylvan Sync program is designed so you can focus on teaching grade level content and inspire students to academically thrive.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree required
• Credential from State of CA required- (must present credential copy and LiveScan fingerprinting upon hire)
• If currently in a teaching program, we still may consider based on the condition of providing a cleared Livescan
• Positive and enthusiastic about teaching!
• Excellent communication skills required.
• Reliable transportation and punctuality are a must.
• Previous teaching/ tutoring experience/ knowledge of Common Core strategies encouraged to apply

Compensation:

• Teacher rate varies based on experience and credentials up to $25 per hour.
• Training is paid at a flat rate of $16.90 per hour (see above for details).
