Parts Associate

PARTS ASSOCIATE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Data entry and processing, including inventory reconciliation
• Answering phone calls as first point of communication for parts customers, make calls, take orders, provide product information to customers and assist in providing quotes, purchase orders, invoices, and other sales support
• Receive incoming merchandise/product, count stock items, and record data manually or using computer, unload incoming product and verify accuracy of inbound product
• Pack and unpack items to be stocked, accurately process stock, ensuring it is placed in the proper areas
• Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors
• Utilize the company’s business system to update inventory receiving transactions
• Purchase new or additional stock
• Drive company vehicle to pick up incoming stock or to deliver parts to designated locations
• Demonstrate and understand compliance of the company’s safety processes
• Any other tasks as assigned

The position of PARTS ASSOCIATE is one that requires an organized, confident, dependable person who understands that their response to a customer’s needs has a lasting impression on the long-term sustainability of that customer.

The PARTS ASSOCIATE must be able to research and source components for fire apparatus that span the past 40 years from multiple manufacturers. Problem solving and networking skills are key to success.

The position of PARTS ASSOCIATE will be staffed by a self-motivated, well groomed, courteous person who possesses a mindset based in customer service as well as a strong sense of accountability and craving to learn new things.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Confident using multiple computer systems software
• Comfortable communicating over the telephone and via email, taking multiple phone calls an hour or in quick succession
• Ability to retain information learn and gained during the execution of duties assigned
• Ability to work effectively and accurately under pressure and manage multiple assignments simultaneously under specific timeframes
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively
• Work in a fast-paced environment with accuracy
• Meet set deadlines and quality standards
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and understanding of written and oral instructions utilizing the English language
• Complete basic math and provide precise descriptions for work performed
• Quickly grasp technical information and make decisions
• Strong computer literacy, ability to operate computer programs, and skills including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Teams, Adobe PDF, and Google workplace is a plus
• Comfortable in office and warehouse work setting/environment
• Ability to interact professionally with both corporate and non-corporate personnel

WORK SCHEDULE

The work schedule will vary dependent on need; however, the expectation is that the PARTS ASSOCIATE will work no less than 40 hours per week and normal working hours shall be 7am-3pm weekdays. Work hours, depending on need and type of work being performed, may result in longer hours and/or weekend work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Two (2) years or more related customer service/sales experience required
• Purchasing/pricing experience a plus
• Experience in building and managing business relationships
• Valid driver license eligible for insurance coverage for driving company vehicles
• High school diploma or equivalent required, two (2) year associate degree or equivalent preferred

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES

The position entails driving, lifting, standing, and carrying. The PARTS ASSOCIATE may stand or walk for up to 8 hours per day, lift at least 50 lbs., and make repetitive movements including, but not limited to, using a 10-key or calculator, qwerty keyboard, bending or squatting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The nature of this work will place the employee in many situations in which they are not protected from the elements. Many work functions must be completed in ambient temperatures both above 90 degrees and below 32 degrees for extended periods of time. The employee may be subject to elevated noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection. The employee may also be subject to atmospheric conditions that affect the respiratory system or skin such as fumes, odors, dust, gases, oil and/or poor ventilation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles, temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes, which may cause noticeable discomfort.
