About Wingham

Wingham is a friendly rural town situated on the Manning River, approx 3.5hrs from Sydney, NSW, and only 10mins from Taree in the Manning Valley. It has a population of 5,400 people with a median age of 47 compared to the national median of 38 years. 86% of the population were born in Australia which is higher than the national average of 67% and the local indigenous population makes up 7%. Unfortunately, according to the 2021 census 39% of the population identify as having "No Religion".

There are four schools in Wingham, and nearby educational facilities include Mid Coast Christian College, which caters for both primary and high school children and is only 6km or a short 10-minute drive from Wingham. It is a vibrant town with wide streets and many cafes and boutique shops to explore. Wingham hosts several annual festivals including the Annual Show (March), Beef Week (May), Bonnie Scottish Festival (June), and the Acoostik Music festival (October).

Our Church

Wingham Baptist Church was planted from Taree Baptist Church in 1992 and began in the CWA building on the main street. The current site, originally a sawmill, was purchased and converted into a church. The property has since grown with a demountable office, car park, solar power, a large timber deck, a new kitchen, new floor coverings, external seating, and a children's playground.

We are a small church with an average Sunday attendance of 46, but we undertake a range of ministries including playgroup, Kids Club, Welcome Place (for the older), the Wingham Farmers Market held on our property, prayer meetings, mission support, Bible study groups, the local KYB group, and this year we became a flood crisis centre to support local flood victims.

Our commitment to Christ provides the foundation for caring for and serving our local community, reflecting our faith in action.
