The Pastry Cook prepares baked goods and dessert items for the café, focusing on breakfast pastries, cakes, cookies, viennoiserie, and other café-style items. Ensures consistent quality, proper baking techniques, and creative presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake pastries, muffins, croissants, cookies, cakes, and other café dessert items.
- Assist in developing new pastry items suitable for breakfast and café service.
- Measure, mix, and prepare doughs, batters, creams, and toppings.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and order in the pastry section.
- Follow standardized recipes and ensure product consistency.
- Monitor ovens and equipment to avoid over/under-baking.
- Manage ingredient storage, labeling, FIFO, and inventory reporting.
- Assist with plating and garnishing dessert items for service.
- Coordinate with kitchen teams to meet daily production requirements.
Requirements
- Experience as Pastry Cook/Baker in a café, bakery, or pastry kitchen.
- Good knowledge of basic pastry methods: doughs, creams, fillings, baking techniques.
- Creativity and eye for presentation.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency.
- Knowledge of hygiene, food safety, and storage standards.
- Ability to work early morning shifts and meet production deadlines.
