Pastry Chef - immediate joiner

Job Summary

The Pastry Chef is responsible for leading the production of high-end, handcrafted chocolates, pastries, and baked goods, ensuring exceptional quality, presentation, and consistency aligned with the brand’s luxury standards. This role combines technical mastery, creativity, and operational discipline to deliver premium products and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production & Preparation

  • Prepare and produce a full range of pastries, desserts, cakes, breads, and baked goods.
  • Follow standardized recipes and presentation guidelines.
  • Ensure daily production meets demand, quality, and timing requirements.
  • Monitor baking processes (mixing, proofing, baking, finishing).

2. Quality Control

  • Maintain consistent taste, texture, and presentation standards.
  • Inspect raw materials and finished products for quality.
  • Ensure all items meet brand expectations (premium/luxury presentation if applicable).
  • Minimize waste and control product defects.

3. Menu Development & Innovation

  • Develop new pastry and bakery items aligned with market trends.
  • Improve existing recipes for quality and efficiency.
  • Contribute to seasonal menus, special events, and promotions.
  • Test and standardize new recipes before launch.

4. Kitchen Operations

  • Organize daily production schedules and workflow.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
  • Manage stock levels and coordinate ingredient requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.

5. Hygiene & Food Safety

  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards (HACCP).
  • Maintain personal hygiene and enforce hygiene practices within the team.
  • Monitor storage conditions (temperature, labeling, FIFO).
  • Ensure proper handling of ingredients and finished goods.

6. Cost Control

  • Control food cost through proper portioning and waste management.
  • Monitor ingredient usage and report discrepancies.
  • Assist in inventory control and stock rotation.

7. Team Support & Supervision

  • Train and guide junior pastry staff and assistants.
  • Ensure team adherence to recipes and operational standards.
  • Support team during peak production periods.
  • Promote teamwork and a positive kitchen environment.

8. Customer & Brand Experience (if showroom-based)

  • Ensure products reflect the brand’s image and quality.
  • Support custom orders and special requests when required.
  • Coordinate with sales/showroom team for product availability.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or similar role (3–5+ years preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, and ingredients.
  • Creativity and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
