Pastry Chef (Zagre, Croatia)

Core Responsibilities

  • Production & Preparation: Creating, baking, and decorating a wide variety of desserts, including cakes, cookies, pastries, and bread.
  • Menu Development: Developing new, creative, and seasonal recipes to update dessert menus.
  • Inventory & Cost Control: Monitoring stock levels, ordering ingredients, and managing kitchen costs.
  • Quality & Safety Assurance: Ensuring all products meet quality standards and that the station adheres to health and safety regulations.
  • Kitchen Leadership: Training, supervising, and mentoring pastry staff, such as junior cooks.
  • Client Customization: Meeting with clients to design custom-made cakes and desserts for special occasions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: A high school diploma is required, along with a degree or certificate from a culinary school in baking or pastry arts.
  • Experience: Proven experience of 2+ years working as a pastry chef, baker, or in a similar role.
  • Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of baking techniques, food chemistry, and ingredient interactions.
  • Creativity: Strong artistic ability for designing and plating, including skills in piping, glazing, and chocolate work.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long hours and work in a fast-paced environment.
