Position: Full-Time

Position Summary:

The Pastry Commis assists the Pastry Chef and the pastry team in preparing, baking, and presenting a wide range of pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked items. The role ensures that all products meet the highest standards of quality, consistency, hygiene, and presentation while supporting the smooth operation of the pastry section.

• Assist in the preparation and baking of pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked items.
• Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards as instructed by the Pastry Chef.
• Prepare ingredients by measuring, mixing, and combining according to standard procedures.
• Decorate pastries, cakes, and desserts with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry workstation and storage areas.
• Ensure all products meet food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
• Monitor stock levels of ingredients and report shortages to the supervisor.
• Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures for ingredient usage and storage.
• Operate baking equipment safely and according to standard operating procedures.
• Assist with daily production requirements for restaurant, buffet, and catering services.
• Collaborate with the pastry team to ensure timely and efficient production.
• Adhere to personal hygiene and grooming standards as per company policy.
• Perform additional tasks assigned by the Pastry Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Minimum 1–3 years of experience as a Pastry Commis in hotels, restaurants, or catering operations.
• Basic knowledge of bakery techniques, pastry preparation, and dessert plating.
• Familiarity with kitchen hygiene, food safety standards, and HACCP principles.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
• Attention to detail, creativity, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and special events.
