Job Summary:
The Pastry Helper supports the daily operations of the pastry department through hands-on assistance with preparation, baking, and maintenance tasks. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals passionate about baking and pastry arts who are eager to grow their skills in a fast-paced, professional kitchen environment. Under the guidance of the Pastry Chef or senior team members, the Pastry Helper plays a key role in ensuring the timely and high-quality production of baked goods for events, menus, and retail offerings.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and baking of breads, pastries, and desserts according to company recipes and specifications
- Measure, mix, and portion ingredients under supervision
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry kitchen, tools, and workstations
- Label, store, and rotate ingredients and baked goods properly
- Support the team with plating, garnishing, and basic decorating tasks
- Follow all health, sanitation, and safety procedures in accordance with company and regulatory standards
- Assist with inventory organization and stock rotation
- Communicate effectively with pastry team and broader kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
- Take direction from senior pastry staff and respond positively to feedback
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the pastry team
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in a kitchen or bakery setting preferred but not required
- Basic knowledge of baking techniques and food safety practices
- Willingness to learn and grow within the culinary field
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a team environment
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
