About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Patent Writer with strong expertise in US patent drafting to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of healthcare technology, including software, health informatics, and AI-driven healthcare solutions. The role involves preparing high-quality patent applications for the US market, collaborating with R&D and engineering teams, and ensuring that our innovations are strategically protected.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, prepare, and review US patent applications related to software, digital health, and medical technologies.
- Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and healthcare domain experts to understand technical innovations and convert them into comprehensive patent specifications and claims.
- Conduct prior art searches and patentability assessments to identify the novelty and uniqueness of inventions.
- Support patent prosecution activities by preparing responses to USPTO Office Actions and assisting external patent attorneys.
- Maintain and update the company’s patent portfolio, ensuring timely filings and renewals.
- Ensure compliance with USPTO guidelines and best practices for patent quality and clarity.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in US patent drafting, preferably in healthcare software, digital health, AI/ML, or medical technology.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of software architecture, algorithms, and healthcare IT systems.
- Familiarity with US patent law, USPTO processes, and PCT filings.
- Proficiency in patent research tools such as Espacenet, USPTO, or Derwent.
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical thinking, technical writing, and communication skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in drafting patents related to AI in healthcare, EHR systems, or clinical data analytics.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, FDA guidelines) and global IP filing practices.
