Patient Access Assistant Manager

Definition of Position
:

The Assistant Manager of Patient Access works under the direction of the Patient Access Manager. Employee is responsible for the direction and supervision of the Patient Access Department. The Patient Access Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing all areas of Good Shepherd's front-end Revenue Cycle. Duties include guidance and coverage for employees, monitoring of quality assurance measures, ongoing staff training, process development, and working with department managers within the facility to ensure the timely and accurate access for patients. The Assistant Manager helps implement standardized workflows and protocols, monitors staff performance, and serves as a first-line decision-making resource for staff and patient concerns. This position plays a critical role in maintaining efficient appointment scheduling processes, supporting team members through coaching and development, and ensuring compliance with established protocols. The goal of this position is to ensure high quality service for patients and accurate information affecting both pre and post visit services in the Hospital, Clinics, and Home Health and Hospice. Assistant Manager will need to assist in covering in all areas in patient access including 24/7 Emergency room.

  • Customer service, and the hospital switchboard
  • The employee supports the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, finance, or a related field

Licenses/ certifications/ registrations

Experience

Required: Minimum of 5 years healthcare experience/2 yrs. Supervisory

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional walking, standing, bending, or lifting light office items (up to 25 pounds). Visual acuity to view computer screens and read detailed financial documents. Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically. May be required to move throughout the healthcare facility, including administrative and clinical areas.


Working Conditions:

This position operates in a professional office setting within a healthcare facility. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The office environment is climate-controlled, well-lit, and ergonomically designed for extended computer work. While this role is primarily office-based and does not involve direct patient care, the employee may occasionally be present in clinical areas or interact with staff working in clinical environments. As such, there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases. The organization provides appropriate training and personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed to ensure safety.
