Shriners Children's Boston is seeking a full-time day shift Patient Care Assistant to join our team.
The Patient Care Assistant provides supportive services to patient care units as directed by the Unit Coordinators, Staffing Coordinators and Registered Nurses. Must consistently demonstrate caring and appropriate behavior when interacting with patients and families. Assists with wound and skin care, keeps unit and work areas stocked, and provides delegated nursing care activities as appropriate.
The pay range for this position is $16.68 hourly to $25.02 hourly. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and department equity.

Delivers patient care including personal hygiene, nutrition, elimination, mobility, ambulation, comfort and rest.

Orients the patient and family to the patient care areas and assists them to feel comfortable with their surroundings.

Provides delegated nursing care activities and assists the caregiver as appropriate in daily care, oral hygiene, weights, I&O's.

Takes part in the discharge process under the direction of the RN.

Keeps unit and work areas stocked appropriate to the number, acuity and age of patients currently present including PPE.

Seeks opportunities to assist others when assigned work is complete.

Provides wound and skin care under the direction of the RN, as appropriate for assigned unit.

Transports specimens to MGH and SBH laboratories as requested.

Picks up blood products as requisitioned and requested by Shift Coordinator.

Transports patients to MGH or MEEI for x-rays, office visits, or special tests as requested by Unit Secretary and/or Shift Coordinator. Transports patients internally to various departments as needed (School Room/Rehab/OR/PACU).

Required:
High School Diploma / GED
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Some healthcare experience required; hospital setting preferred
Preferred:
One year of pediatric experience
