Provides direct and indirect care duties under the guidance and direction of the registered nurse (RN). Performs a variety of invasive and non invasive technical skills and specialized patient care procedures as well as other duties to support 24 hours of hospital operations.

Receives patient care assignment from the registered nurse (RN) in charge. Initiates delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence in performing nursing activities.

Assists patients with activities of daily living to include bathing, personal hygiene, nutrition and comfort measures, changing bed linens, and diapers.

Performs vital signs, heights, weights, head circumference & other measurements and records the results in the Electronic Health Record according to nursing and hospital policies & procedures.

Renders care to patients in adherence with written protocols under the supervision of the RN and assists with patient procedures such as; venipuncture/phlebotomy, collecting and preparing laboratory specimens & phlebotomy according to health system standards, Point of Care Testing, ensuring EKG's as ordered, Bladder Scanning and other duties as assigned.

Informs RN of pertinent information and/or communicates all significant changes in patient condition or behavior.

Recognizes accepted priorities for care needs and takes direction for re-prioritizing from the RN.

Restocks supplies such as gloves, gowns, linen, medical equipment, assists with room preparation and turnover.

Identifies the needs of the patient and provides necessary supplies accordingly.

Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and promotes/practices cost containment.

Maintains patient rooms and nursing station clean at all times.

Provides encouragement, support and comfort to patients and family members.

Assists with transporting patients for special procedures.

Performs other assigned tasks to promote efficient practice operation and contributes to the provision of quality patient care.

Greets and welcomes patients, families and visitors. Communicates information regarding NCHS services and delivers excellent and timely service and support.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or EMT/Paramedic active licensure in the State of Florida - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment

American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment

Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or Safety Care required within 6 months of hire - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

High school education or equivalent preferred.

Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
