Patient Care Technician - OR

  • POSITION STANDARDS
    • Graduate of an accredited program for certified nurse assistants. State of NH Certified Nurses Assistant Registration.
    • Preferable 2-5 years experience in an acute facility (emergency, medical/surgical, intensive care, surgery, operating room).
    • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
    • Must be capable of prioritizing and completing a high volume of requests quickly and efficiently in multiple roles.
    • Current NH LNA license required.
    • Current BCLS certification required within 30 days of hire.

  • PART TWO: FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

    • Position Objective
      • As part of the Nursing team, and at the direction of the Nursing Director, is integral in supporting patient and unit flow. The PCT provides technical and clinical support and functions at the direction of the RNs and providers.

    • Performance Expectation
      • Assists the providers and/or RNs in various procedures to support efficient and patient focused care (e.g. peripheral nerve blocks, preoperative clipping, preoperative scrubs, discontinuation of IV catheters)
      • Performs various specimen collections (e.g. urine, bedside blood glucose testing) in a timely and accurate method.
      • Performs various tests (e.g. urine hCG, blood glucose, 12 lead EKG) with precision and care.
      • Performs various other patient care duties (e.g. patient transport, monitoring set-up, vital signs) as requested.
      • Generally assists the healthcare team through support functions (e.g. stocking rooms and supplies, recognizing equipment malfunction and appropriately referring for repair, cleaning workstations and equipment etc.).
