Job Purpose: The Patient Care Technician provides basic nursing care to patients, transports patients within the hospital, and monitors a safe and clean environment. The Patient Care Technician provides clerical support, including order entry, as the patient care and patient flow requires.
Work is performed under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with established hospital standards, nursing department structure and standards, established regulatory and accreditation requirements, and the individual patient’s special physical or age-related needs.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific groups, which include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three (6) months of transfer or hire
Experience: One (1) year experience as a Nurse Assistant or equivalent experience in healthcare setting.
Preferred: Emergency Department, Critical Care, and EMT experience or Medical Office Assistant training.
