We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Patient Counsellor to join our team at Trinity Super Specialty Eye Hospital's Singanallur branch in Coimbatore. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive patient counselling services for various eye care procedures, with a primary focus on cataract and advanced eye treatments.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Counselling & Education
- Conduct detailed counselling sessions with patients regarding cataract procedures and other eye treatments
- Explain treatment options, procedures, risks, and benefits in an easily understandable manner
- Address patient concerns and anxieties regarding upcoming procedures
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families throughout the treatment journey
- Ensure informed consent process is completed thoroughly
Treatment Guidance & Consultation
- Assess patient needs and recommend appropriate treatment pathways in consultation with medical team
- Advise patients on various treatment options including:
- Traditional cataract surgery procedures
- Premium intraocular lens (IOL) options and their benefits
- LASIK and other refractive surgery procedures
- Advanced non-invasive treatment alternatives
- Guide patients in making informed decisions about lens selection based on lifestyle and visual needs
- Facilitate referrals to appropriate specialists when required
Clinical Support & Coordination
- Support the Centre Head and medical team in treatment planning and patient management
- Collaborate with doctors to ensure seamless patient care delivery
- Maintain detailed patient counselling records and documentation
- Coordinate pre and post-operative counselling sessions
- Assist in patient follow-up and care continuity
Administrative Duties
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive patient files and counselling reports
- Schedule and manage counselling appointments efficiently
- Participate in clinical team meetings and case discussions
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient satisfaction programs
Educational Background
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or related discipline
- Master's degree or PG Diploma in relevant field advantageous
- Additional certifications in medical counselling or healthcare communication advantageous
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in clinical counselling or healthcare setting
- Prior experience in ophthalmology or surgical specialties highly preferred
- Demonstrated experience in patient education and informed consent processes
- Background in medical/clinical counselling with measurable patient outcomes

- Proficiency in local languages (Tamil) and English
