COMPANY ROLE
This position plays an important role in creating a smooth and welcoming front office experience. Responsibilities include checking patients in for appointments, verifying demographic and insurance information, scheduling follow-up visits, and supporting team members as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Welcome and greet all patients and visitors.
- Register new patients and update existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including insurance information.
- Collect monies due (co-pays, deposits etc.) from patient at time of check-in.
- Answer incoming calls with a courteous and professional approach, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
- Follow up on assigned referrals by verifying required information and coordinating with the Managed Care department as needed.
- Serves as a liaison between patients and physicians both by telephone and in person.
- Schedule appointments in the Practice Management system.
- Reconcile daily monies and close daily batch according to protocol.
- Keeps medical office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs, placing orders and monitoring office equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum two years of experience in a medical office setting. Knowledge of insurance billing principles and functions of HMO plans strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of computers and basic software programs; experience with Electronic Health Records systems preferred; NextGen experience is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle complex situations while maintaining tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to work independently and as an integral part of a team. Must be able to organize and prioritize work flow.
- Ability to interact professionally with co-workers, patients and physicians and to understand and maintain confidential information.
Language Skills
Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret correspondence and insurance regulations. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients and the general public.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
