Patient Support Specialist

Patient Support Specialist Job Description
Summary: This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with benefits including health care coverage, paid time off, 401k and more. This position reports to the Office Manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Greets patients, performs check-in and check-out procedures
  • Answers patient inquiries by phone or in-person
  • Provides patients with appropriate paperwork used to collect information
  • Makes updates to patient files
  • Able to keep important patient information confidential
  • Processes patient payment for products and/or services provided
  • Schedules and confirms patient appointments
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and referral status
  • Regularly check email, voicemail, PracYakker, Spruce, and any other communication systems and ensure timely responses to requests
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Required - High school diploma or equivalent; customer service skills; basic computer and data entry skills; multi-tasker; patience, able to handle stress, positive attitude, team player, takes initiative, able to explain things to patients, problem solver
Preferred - Knowledge of Nextech and Klara systems, upbeat personality, quick learner

Physical Demands: significant amount of sitting, screen time, typing, and assisting patients; lifting up to 25 lbs.; occasional bending and stretching

Work environment: This job operates in a professional, fast-paced office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. There can be some noise and an occasional difficult patient.
