The Patient Transporter I

Assists patients in entering and leaving the elevator (i.e. transporting wheelchairs/carts and equipment or controlling elevator door for ambulatory patients) to ensure patient safety.

Identifies and responds to patient emergencies as appropriate.

Performs housekeeping duties to ensure elevator is clean and neat at all times.

Supplies information to patients such as location of clinics and therapies and scheduled activities of the day.

Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
Reporting Relationships

Reports directly to the Manager, Central Supply & Distribution.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Must possess and maintain a valid State of Illinois Driver’s License as well as a motor vehicle record without any violations.

Work requires demonstrated the ability to closely follow written and verbal directions.

Receive on-the-job training involving operating of various transport devices such as wheelchairs

Interpersonal skills necessary to deal with patients, employees and visitors to promote good customer relations.

Working Conditions

Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
