To perform, evaluate, and report
Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT)
on welded joints and critical components during offshore construction and installation activities, ensuring compliance with
project specifications, applicable codes, and client requirements
, while strictly adhering to offshore HSE standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. PAUT Inspection Activities

Perform PAUT inspections on:
-
Offshore piping welds (CS / SS / CRA)
-
Structural welds and nodes
-
Pressure vessels and pipelines (as applicable)
-
Ensure inspections are carried out in accordance with:
-
Approved PAUT procedures
-
Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
-
Offshore work packs
2. Equipment Setup & Calibration
-
Set up and calibrate PAUT equipment including:
-
Phased array probes and wedges
-
Encoders and scanners (manual / semi?automated)
-
Conduct calibration using:
-
Approved reference blocks
-
Project?specific calibration standards
-
Ensure all NDT equipment has valid calibration certificates
3. Data Acquisition & Interpretation
-
Perform data acquisition and analysis using PAUT software
-
Interpret A?Scan, B?Scan, C?Scan and S?Scan data
-
Detect, evaluate, and size discontinuities such as:
-
Lack of fusion
-
Lack of penetration
-
Cracks
-
Porosity and inclusions
4. Reporting & Documentation
-
Prepare accurate and timely:
-
PAUT reports
-
Scan plans and data files
-
Repair and re?inspection reports
-
Ensure full traceability of welds and inspection records
-
Support mechanical completion, pre?commissioning, and dossier handover
