ABOUT THE JOB (JOB BRIEF)
We are looking for a seasoned leader to oversee our Account Management function supporting the B2B payments of commercial clients. This newly created organization will support Key’s growing focus and transformation of B2B payments within our Commercial Bank segment. The preferred candidate is a hybrid leader, equally effective at setting strategy and building scalable processes, while also leading teams and driving day-to-day execution across a portfolio of clients.


The Payables Account Management Leader will oversee the Account Management organization supporting non-strategic and standard clients and will also provide oversight of the Strategic Account Management Team (SAM), which manages our highest revenue generating clients.

The Payables Account Management Leader will be responsible for developing and executing the strategy for managing non-strategic and standard client relationships, with an emphasis on process development, standardization, and continuous improvement. This role will partner closely with Product, Sales, Finance, Operations, and Technology teams to simplify client journeys, improve platform adoption, and proactively manage portfolio health (including retention, growth of payables spend, and client satisfaction).

In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations, the Payables Account Management Leader will own the operating model, defining the routines, playbooks, controls, and metrics required to scale performance consistently across segments.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop Account Managers to strengthen performance and expertise
  • Strategic Account Oversight: Oversee Strategic Account Management team to ensure alignment, consistency, and client experience
  • Account Management Strategy: Define and execute strategies for Non-strategic and Standard client segments aligned to business goals
  • Operating Model & Governance: Establish clear expectations, routines, capacity planning, and escalation frameworks for consistent execution
  • Process Design & Optimization: Build scalable processes, playbooks, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency
  • Portfolio Segmentation & Coverage: Design segmentation models, coverage strategies, and engagement rhythms for client portfolios
  • Performance Management & Reporting: Track portfolio health, adoption, retention, and growth through metrics and reporting
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Finance, Operations, Sales, and Technology to resolve issues and improve processes
  • Training & Enablement: Develop and deliver training to strengthen team capabilities and platform expertise
  • Sales Support & Subject Matter Expertise: Support sales efforts and act as SME on platforms and payment optimization
  • Client Integration & Onboarding: Oversee integration processes to drive adoption and alignment across stakeholders
  • Client Engagement & Retention: Ensure consistent engagement strategies that improve client satisfaction and retention
  • Issue Resolution & Escalation Management: Manage and streamline issue resolution and escalation processes
  • Market & Competitive Insight: Monitor client, competitor, and regulatory trends to inform strategy and solutions
  • Continuous Improvement & Feedback Loops: Drive ongoing enhancements through root-cause analysis and structured feedback mechanisms


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required, or equivalent experience

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of product, account management, accounts payable, or procurement related experience in a treasury management or financial services setting
  • Able to work in a matrixed organization with colleagues across various reporting structures
  • Comfortable building relationships within all levels of prospects and/or client’s organization from technical team leads to the executive level
  • Superior influencing, consulting, and communication skills (both oral and written), with the ability to successfully interact with and relate complex technical information to less technical audiences in common business terms
  • Capable of managing multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities
  • Ability to provide executive level updates on project progress and appropriately address concerns / risks
  • Ability to problem solve and overcome challenges


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Business acumen that includes knowledge of payment processing and payment methods (e.g., Check, Wire, ACH, Virtual Cards)
  • Familiarity with working capital strategies and the operations of commercial treasury, controllership, and accounts payable functions
  • Demonstrated experience building scalable account management operating models (segmentation, coverage, outreach cadences, playbooks, and governance)
  • Experience driving process standardization and continuous improvement across cross-functional teams (e.g., issue management, escalations, and client lifecycle workflows)
  • Strong analytical orientation; experience defining KPIs/OKRs and using data to manage portfolio health, adoption, retention, and growth
  • Change leadership experience implementing new processes and enabling teams through training, communications, and ongoing coaching

Key has implemented a role-based Mobile by Design approach to our employee workspaces, dedicating space to those whose roles require specific workspaces, while providing flexible options for roles which are less dependent on assigned workspaces and can be performed effectively in a mobile environment. As a result, this role may be mobile or home based, which means you may work either at a home office or in a Key facility to perform your job duties.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $128,000.00 - $268,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
