Payment Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions with precision using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or PeopleSoft.
• Reconcile accounts and perform account analysis to ensure data integrity and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Manage medical billing and collections, including CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and medical terminology to facilitate accurate revenue cycle management.
• Conduct data entry tasks with high accuracy, including journal entries, double entry bookkeeping, and 10 key typing.
• Assist in financial analysis, including credit analysis, revenue recognition, and governmental or non-profit accounting procedures.
• Support internal controls by adhering to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance requirements during financial processes.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries related to payments, billing issues, or account discrepancies via phone or email with professional phone etiquette.

Requirements

• Proven experience in accounting roles with a focus on accounts receivable/payable, reconciliation, or financial analysis.
• Strong knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with medical collection procedures, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and medical terminology is highly desirable.
• Understanding of GAAP principles and SOX compliance standards to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Excellent data entry skills with proficiency in 10 key typing and double entry bookkeeping techniques.
• Ability to analyze financial data critically and perform detailed account reconciliation tasks.
• Strong interpersonal skills with effective phone etiquette and negotiation abilities for collections or dispute resolution.
